Dream Really Big

"The sky is my goal, the stars my aim."

It's almost Christmas 2007. I've just finished second semester of my second year at Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. With the time off, I've had time for reflection.

I've done some reading and some thinking about where I'm going with my life. I realized last night (not for the first time) that my family has set me up with essentially limitless opportunity in life. In some ways I feel now that I have a responsibility to do big things with my opportunity. In some ways it is a challenge. In some ways, a git. Whatever way I look at it, I know I want to and WILL do large things in this lifetime. That's the decision I've made.

The picture here is of Nick Peters, Scott Crider, and myself at Coco Beach Island Resort in the Philippines (we're currently water-skiing). We were in Manila on an internship "vacation" last summer. It was fantastic in the workplace and outside, a great opportunity to explore the business world and a new culture. I would never had had this opportunity had my mother and father not worked to get me to the point that I am. They nurtured me and put me in the right schools, the right environments. I am eternally grateful for that. And I don't intend to put any of their effort to waste. I want great for myself and even better for my family to follow.

I'm writing about these topics and others at AC, check it out: (copy, paste link to browser)
